Nick Bishop ESD (NBE) is an ESD consultancy focused on delivering leading-edge environmental solutions through best practice design & engineering methods.

NBE operate across the entire building industry, from single residential to large institutional, commercial & educational facilities.

A grounding in lifecycle cost benefit analysis as the basis for our ESD recommendations ensure the best possible environmental outcomes can be achieved for the given budget.

A cornerstone of NBE’s business philosophy is continual research & development as we value demonstrable sustainability outcomes and take pride in being thought leaders.

Our services are based on an end to end project delivery model. This allows our scope of work to be tailored to drive sustainability outcomes across the entire building procurement lifecycle.

Sustainable Design Engineer / Director

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Hons)
  • Masters of Engineering (Sustainable Energy)

Nick’s background is in sustainable design consulting, building services engineering, & electrical and software design. Nick creates innovative design solutions that go beyond the usual rule-of-thumb sustainable design guidelines. Nick developed the unique Building Cost Multi-Objective Optimisation modelling processes that allows NBE to deliver fully optimised, lowest-cost energy efficient designs for all building typologies. The philosophy behind this process is to ensure that as designers & consultants, we maximise the environmental benefit that can be achieved for any given project budget.

Nick has worked as an ESD consultant on a range of building typologies for some of Victoria’s leading architects, with great outcomes including Net Zero Emissions for single residential clients, to 5-star Greenstar Certification for two of Melbourne’s landmark buildings (the RMIT Design Hub & 321 Exhibition St).
